Assignment #24: TED Talk - How Photography Connects Us

The Ted Talk by David Griffen showcases how a photograph can speak a million words. Photographers all over the world work to capture photographs that are not only appealing but rather tell a story. A scene can be captured through a variety of angles and photographs that show a lifestyle. When photographers go out to capture, it is essential for them to portray society in a way that calls the appropriate attention to it. These photos can call for help in times of need, exemplify joy and even showcase people throughout an experience. Photography is a method of communication that has the ability to influence the lives of anyone who views it.

Griffen presented the work of a few photographers during his talk. He described the process taken by these photographers. It showed the hard work and luck that comes along with photography. Each set of pictures told a touching story that represents the amount of work put into it. Photography is a long waited process, where patience is essential for the photographers to have. Griffen mentioned that anyone has taken one or two amazing photographers, but to be an amazing photographer one must have the skills to consistently capture greatness. Photography is an art form that takes much skill and dedication.

The photographs presented by Griffen told touching stories. For example, one of the photographers talked about went to an animal sanctuary in Africa where he patiently waited for the animals and took photos of them until they were in the position he wanted. Furthermore, the photographer took images of the animals that had been harmed to the benefit of humans. These photographs instantly touched everyone, as they saw the gruesome situations animals are put through. In addition, one of the photographers went to India to capture the lives of the people there. The images showed the impoverished society's daily life. It was instantaneously showed that there are third world societies that need help from countries such as the USA. Overall, the messages taken away from photographs are essential to influence a society to help others.
